Our Connected Home Hardware team researches, ideates, designs, develops, and manages consumer technologies to make our customers' interaction with TELUS services faster, seamless, and more reliable. Whether finding new ways to connect consumer devices, advancing product form factors, or improving machine-to-human interactions, our team focuses on improving our customers' lives by making technology simpler and friendlier.
We work closely with our engineers, marketing teams, industrial designers, and manufacturing partners to manage products from conception to launch and retirement. We support Optik TV, internet access hardware, Boost Wi-Fi, SmartHome, and more.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of smart home customer premises equipment (CPE) strategy at TELUS, with potential for significant career growth within the organization in a fast growing segment.
As a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Strategy Manager, you have deep expertise in consumer smart home electronics, ecosystems, and technologies and possess a comprehensive understanding of existing and emerging standards such as Matter, Thread, PowerG, Z-Wave, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
What you’ll do in this role:
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives to drive TELUS' smart home hardware roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall corporate objectives.
- Conduct thorough market analysis to identify key trends, opportunities, and threats within the consumer smart home electronics landscape.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product development, marketing, sales, and engineering teams to define and prioritize smart home Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) requirements.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of technology partners and vendors to support TELUS' smart home ecosystem.
- Stay abreast of industry advancements and emerging technologies, providing thought leadership and recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications
What you bring:
- Minimum of seven years of experience in strategic planning, product management, or business development within the smart home, consumer electronics or telecommunications industry.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Deep knowledge of consumer smart home technologies, ecosystems and standards such as Matter, PowerG, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple Home and Alexa.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Results-driven mindset with a focus on delivering tangible business outcomes.
- Experience leading direct and cross-functional teams.
Great to haves:
- Experience in leading end-to-end product lifecycle management, from concept ideation to launch and beyond.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and certifications relevant to smart home hardware products (e.g., FCC, UL, CE).
- Passion for innovation and continuous learning in the smart home technology space.
- Familiarity with the Canadian home security alarm business is a plus.
- Experience negotiating and managing supplier agreements.
- Familiarity with consumer electronics development processes, including prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
