Position Overview:


As a crucial member of the Partner Solutions Marketing team, the Service Development Manager gathers competitive intelligence, researches the telecommunications market to identify new business opportunities and identifies potential new products and services.  With the focus on data access products used by our Wholesale Providers for core connectivity supporting their critical end customer locations.   This resource researches, identifies, and / or evaluates advanced products & services by translating strategic business objectives into product requirements. The individual would then champion these development opportunities through TELUS’ stage gate methodology as required to drive initiatives to commercial availability. This position also gathers subject matter expertise across multiple large-scale, complex initiatives, and contributes to the evaluation of new concepts, techniques and standards.
 
The successful candidate will be part of a diverse, high performance team of product professionals to assess, develop, deliver, and manage a wide variety of network and mandated telecom solutions.  This tightly knit team consists of individuals who understand how to balance sales, delivery, customer care, regulatory/CRTC mandates and client needs throughout the lifecycle of a product and service.

As Service Development Manager, you will help fuel profitable growth for TELUS by enabling the innovation and success of service providers and resellers across the globe.  

 

Here's how

  • Develop, own and maintain a product roadmap and business requirements through analyzing, anticipating, and understanding of market, customer, regulatory and technology trends.
  • Assemble cross functional teams across all business units to gather requirements for new product ideas. Collaborating with Product Leads to ensure a clear understanding of user needs and problems to be solved/jobs to be done
  • Responsible for providing necessary inputs into the economic, competitive, and technical analysis of emerging products and solutions to support growth initiatives.
  • Accountable for developing business cases that determine spend of the capital envelope associated with a given project and/or initiative (including measurement of project performance and ROI). Provide tactical direction on infrastructure investments.
  • Identify emerging global trends and technologies through competitive landscape research, market reports, analyst reports, etc.  Utilize this knowledge to provide necessary inputs into business case development.

Qualifications

 

What you bring:
 

  • Technical knowledge of the products and services TELUS sells is typically required. This may include expertise in some or all of the following areas: voice, data, mobility and internet products as well as the ability to develop integrated solutions. Knowledge of the regulatory process is a plus.
  • Strong project and process management skills, excellent communication, presentation and analytical skills, ability to develop relationships with key internal and external contacts, and ability to work within and lead teams. 
  • You have a strategic and analytical mindset, comfortable with analyzing data and reporting on key performance metrics and sharing insights
  • You have a bias for action to get deliverables completed
  • You thrive in change and ambiguity, handling shifting demands with ease
  • You can navigate cross-functionally across multiple teams and lines of business.  
  • You are naturally curious and have a drive to deeply understand our business and seek out new areas of opportunity

 

Great-to-haves

  • University degree in Marketing or Computer Science 
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in the telecom industry
  • Financial analyst experience


 

Salary Range:  $81,000-$121,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  12%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
