As an Ultrasound Technologist at Xray 505, you'll be a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, performing specialized ultrasound procedures that directly inform patient care and health outcomes. You'll work in a collaborative clinical environment, partnering with radiologists and healthcare professionals to deliver the high-quality diagnostic imaging our patients depend on.

You'll contribute to our mission of making advanced diagnostic imaging accessible and improving health experiences for patients across the region, with a special focus on women's breast health and comprehensive imaging services.
Under the direction of a Radiologist, you'll perform a variety of ultrasound examinations (breast, abdominal, pelvic, thyroid, and superficial soft tissue masses) while observing rigorous patient safety practices. You'll also liaise with clinic staff, physicians, and administrators to ensure effective delivery of our services in our busy, multifaceted imaging center.
What you'll do:
- Receive and complete requisitions, enter patient data into the diagnostic imaging information system and prepare patients for specific procedures
- Gather and verify patient history data and relevant information prior to beginning scan, and complete worksheets with exam findings for Radiologist
- Perform all ultrasounds to include: Breast, Abdominal, Pelvic/EV's, Renal, Soft Tissue Masses, Thyroid Extremities, Hernia's etc
- Perform ultrasound procedures in accordance with regulatory body guidelines and TELUS' policies
- Ensure all updates are completed and that the PACS system reflects accurate and up-to-date procedure codes. Verify that all associated paperwork is correct and complete prior to submission to the Radiologist Assistant. Confirm that all documentation is properly uploaded and that all procedures are accurately recorded
- Communicate with radiologist on scheduled special procedures
- Explain procedure to patient and answer questions about procedures
- Prepare patient for Sonography procedures by accurately assessing patient's needs and providing patient education
- Assist with imaging center workflow by helping with general duties as deemed necessary
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of PACS
- Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, organized and safe workspace
- Comply with patient safety and confidentiality policies
- Perform related clerical and administrative duties as necessary
Qualifications
What you bring:
- Completion of a recognized post-diploma sonography program, or equivalent
- Current Sonography Canada registration in good standing
- ARDMS certification or CRGS certification
- Minimum of 2 years ultrasound experience (breast ultrasound is an asset)
- One year experience or training in diagnostic ultrasound in at least two specialty areas
- One year of experience and registry in the remaining sub-specialties preferred
- Previous experience as a general sonographer, largely transabdominal pelvic and abdominal
- CPR and WHMIS certification(s) considered an asset
- Previous experience with PACS and GE ultrasound equipment is beneficial
- Effective decision making skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a dynamic team
- Commitment to providing high quality patient care and customer service is essential
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast paced environment and ability to work well under pressure
